Perception is Perceiving

While watching Mr. Lunt  sing His Cheeseburger with my children I was informed by Chandler that he has no eyes. I suppose I had already knew this however I realized that he does not have eyes yet no one seems to notice the missing optical devices needed to see. We see that he has the other features on his face, a nose, mouth and hair. So do we just assume that he has eyes without actually needing to see them. I gues what I am trying to say is that we see what we want to see or what we expect to see.

What are your looking at that you see one thing but really it is something different or not at all there? When given a good look what is missing that you perceive to be present?
